Shimazu Store, located in the valley of Liliha, is a popular neighborhood shop known for their monstrous shave ice. “The Larry” is a tradition and must-get when you are there! 

I wanted to give the “Shimazu” design a sense of home and happiness that reflects the valley I grew up in. The symbols used in the illustration are tied to childhood memories I have of going to the neighborhood store- picking up snacks and talking stories with the employees until they became like family to me- something that is a reflection of what the Shimazu Store will be for future generations.
